Daily & Vincent Lead IBMA Pack

Bluegrass legends Daily & Vincent lead the pack with 10 nominations for the 21st International Bluegrass Music Awards.

The duo is followed by Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out, Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper, Sam Bush and The Grascals, IBMA announced Aug. 18.

Daily & Vincent are up for their third consecutive win for entertainers of the year, as well as for vocal group, album, song, recorded event and gospel recorded event of the year, among others.

Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out are catching a career second wind, with six nods including for entertainer, song, album, vocal group and gospel recorded performance of the year.

Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper, Sam Bush and The Grascals scored five nominations each. Cleveland shoots for his record-tying eighth-year win for fiddler of the year.

Bush claims a nod for song of the year for the Guy Clark- and Verlon Thompson-penned “The Ballad of Stringbean and Estelle,” about the 1973 murder of Grand Ole Opry star “Stringbean” Akeman and his wife by burglars. The Grascals made waves in the past year with a ’grassed-up version of The Monkees’ “Last Train To Clarksville.”

The International Bluegrass Music Awards are set for Sept. 30 at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium.
