LA Cultural Economy Foundation Celebrates Year No. 5
It was five years ago today a tropical storm formed over the Bahamas, growing in strength to the category 5 mother of all hurricanes known as Katrina. Formed shortly after the catastrophe, the LA Cultural Economy Center has been helping New Orleans-area artists in a number of ways, such as supporting all art disciplines throughout the state with non-matching grants and creating an active healthcare initiative for artists.
The concert for “LA Fête Cutural 2010” takes place this Wednesday, Aug. 25 at the Contemporary Arts Center. Hosted by Mario Cantone from “Sex & The City” and co-chaired by Terrance and Cynthia Simien, the show features Tab Benoit, Big Sam’s Funky Nation and Terrance Simien & The Zydeco Experience.
Turns out Benoit is bringing a few friends that evening for a “Swampland Jam.” Joining him will be Cyril Neville, Anders Osborne,
Tickets are $35. For more information, click here for the Foundation’s website.
