The 49-year-old Boyle will perform hymns and sing with an 800-strong choir when Pope Benedict XVI holds an open-air Mass in Glasgow’s Bellahouston Park Sept. 16. Plans call for Boyle to perform the song that made her a household name – “I Dreamed A Dream” from “Les Miserables.”

Boyle will also sing the hymn “How Great Thou Art.”

According to Scottish newspaper The Daily Record, Boyle will perform a third song as the Pope leaves the park, but no one is saying what the number might be, only that it will be “a surprise.”

How does singing for the Pope match up with everything else that has happened to Boyle? The singer told The Daily Record that invitation to sing for the Pontiff is her “greatest dream come true.”

“I’ve always wanted to sing for His Holiness and I can’t really put into words my happiness that this wish has come true at last.”
