Mom Leaves Kid At Concert

An Idaho woman recently learned the hard way that festivals are not daycare centers after being arrested on a charge of felony injury to a child for leaving her 7-year-old son alone at a concert.

Angie Ammerman was attending the free Boise Music Festival in Ann Morrison Park July 24 when she left her son unattended for more than five hours so she could dance and get autographs near the stage.

Prosecutors told the Idaho Statesman that Ammerman admitted to police that she and her son had attended the concert, which drew more than 50,000, with some friends and she’d assumed her son would eventually find them.

Authorities were notified of the unattended child when festivalgoers contacted officers during the concert to tell them they were looking for his mother, the paper said.

Ammerman could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted of the charge. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 3.

The festival included Bret Michaels, Macy Gray and Backstreet Boys as headliners.
