The Posies, Benson Hook Up For Co-Headline Fun

Supporting their first album in five years, The Posies hit the co-bill trail with Brendan Benson beginning the first week of November.

The Posies’ new album – Blood Candy – drops Sept. 28 and has already received accolades from those deemed worthy enough to receive an advance copy. Spin described Blood Candy as a “nuanced, playful romp” with an “adventurous attitude,” while outlets not necessarily known for music coverage also took delight in the new effort, with Huffington Post calling it “a brilliant return to form or a daring move forward.”

Benson has worn many musical hats over the years, carving out his own career as well as spending a couple of years rocking out with Jack White in The Raconteurs. In fact, his last album – 2009’s My Old, Familiar Friend – was recorded in between The Raconteurs albums Broken Boy Soldiers and Consolers Of The Lonely.

In addition to their own set, Posies’ founders Jon Auer and Ken Stringfellow will appear with Benson, contributing bass, guitar, keyboard and backing vocals.

The co-headline tour begins in Milwaukee at Turner Hall Nov. 5, plays Chicago’s Bottom Lounge Nov. 6 and then heads for Kentucky for a gig in Newport at Southgate House Nov. 7. Other stops include Detroit, New York, Philadelphia, Boston, Nashville, Washington, Memphis, Austin, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Portland, Ore., before closing in Seattle at the Showbox At The Market Dec. 11.
