AEG Lands ArtsPark Shed

AEG Live Southeast will handle booking of a new amphitheatre at ArtsPark at Young Circle in Hollywood, Fla., when the venue is completed early next year.

AEG Live SE Senior VP John Valentino said his office worked with the city on planning the design of the 2,500-capacity shed during the last year.

“One thing that [the city] did do right is they asked us about what they should build,” Valentino told Pollstar. “We asked them to build something to accommodate touring shows. The city was very responsive to our input.”

That input included a large stagehouse to accommodate lighting and a loading area for tractor-trailers.

The state-of-the-art facility will give touring acts another option in a market that also includes the 7,500-capacity Bayfront Park Amphitheatre in Miami, 3,404-capacity Center for the Arts at Mizner Park Amphitheatre in Boca Raton and 2,900-capacity Pompano Beach Amphitheatre.

Valentino and staff are familiar with the location from hosting the inaugural DubFest there last September and look forward to the possiblities the permanent shed will accommodate.

“Hollywood is an old-time, traditional beach community – a neighborhood kind of town – and it’s in the heart of south Florida, so it draws from everywhere,” he explained. “And I think [ArtsPark] lends itself to special events. It’s such a beautiful park.

“We’re looking to provide a diverse schedule there.”
