Sergeant Announced As Acer Arena GM

Former Wembley Arena chief Paul Sergeant is the new GM of Sydney’s 21,000-capacity Acer Arena.

He replaces David Humphreys, who becomes GM of another AEG Ogden-operated arena, the $500 million 15,000-capacity Perth Arena that opens in 2012.

Sergeant ran London’s Wembley Arena and Wembley Stadium as well as Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. He was GM of Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane between 2007 and 2009.

AEG Ogden Chairman and CEO, Harvey Lister, said, “It was important in replacing David that we found someone with extensive international knowledge and industry contacts to be able to take the venue to the next level.”

After AEG Ogden took over the running of Acer Arena in 2006, bookings increased to 90 events a year from 60, and to 1 million annual customers.
