Roadie Facing Assault Charges

A man who worked as a roadie in the Toronto area in the 1970s has been arrested by police over charges he allegedly sexually assaulted a 13-year-old boy during that time.

According to a statement from authorities, a victim came forward in May 2010 to report that a man who worked as a laser-light technician for bands in the area sexually assaulted said victim over several months in the ’70s.

Police conducted a search on Lawrence Michael Roberts’ home in nearby Goderich, where he was arrested and charged, the statement said.

Roberts been charged with three counts of indecent assault on a male, two counts of buggery and making or possessing obscene matter.

He has reportedly resided in several cities in the province and traveled throughout Canada and China. Police believe there may be more victims.

Roberts is scheduled to appear in a Toronto court Sept. 14.
