No reason was given for Stone Temple Pilots postponing tonight’s concert at the El Paso County Coliseum, according to the El Paso Times, which also mentioned “rumors at press time” that the remaining dates of the tour may be nixed as well, but did not cite sources for the scuttlebutt.

The band’s last performance was Sunday night at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands, Texas, where Stone Temple Pilots arrived on stage about an hour late. A review in the Houston Press cited sources saying frontman Scott Weiland was still in transit when the venue’s gates opened.

But there’s a reason why unsubstantiated reports are called rumors, and STP has been the target of rumors and innuendo more than a few times over the years. The Houston Press reviewer described a Weiland that “seemed off mentally, a little too meandering and talkative” as the singer told the audience about his own past experiences with drug and alcohol abuse.

Despite the lateness and Weiland’s ramblings, the Houston Press review was mostly favorable, saying the frontman’s comments “did nothing to alter his performance,” describing the singer as “a true frontman.”

The band’s next performance is scheduled for Wednesday night in Lubbock, Texas, at The Pavilion @ Lone Star Event Center.
