The Charlatans (known as The Charlatans U.K. in the U.S.) were playing Johnny Brenda’s in Philadelphia last week when drummer Jon Brookes collapsed onstage and stopped breathing. After a doctor in the audience administered first aid and got Brooks breathing again, the drummer was taken to a local hospital for tests.

Brookes’ medical condition resulted in the band postponing the remaining dates of its U.S. tour The band later announced that Brookes is suffering from a brain tumor and will undergo surgery. At that time there was no word as to the status of the upcoming U.K. run.

Today’s announcement notes that while no one knows how long Brookes “will be out of action,” it is “thought that Salisbury will complete the October U.K. tour at least.”
