Incubus Sets Benefit Concert For Chilean Miners

The band will headline a benefit show Oct. 8 in Chile to raise money for families of the 33 miners who have been trapped underground since mid-August.

As if trapped deep underground for almost two months with no immediate rescue in sight isn’t bad enough, the mining company has filed for bankruptcy, meaning the workers are no longer earning paychecks.

The benefit show is set for Oct. 8 in Santiago, Chile, at the Teatro La Cupula. The date fits nicely with the band’s South American tour plans which already include a stop in Buenos Aires at Luna Park Oct. 5, the Maquinaria Festival in Santiago Oct. 9 and Sao Paulo, Brazil, at the SWU Festival Oct. 11.

Along with the band donating its performance fee for the Oct. 8 benefit show, Incubus is also auctioning a meet-&-greet via the band’s Make Yourself Foundation with all proceeds going to the miners and their families.

Incubus’ next U.S. date is the Cypress Hill Smoke Out Festival Oct. 16 in San Bernardino at the National Orange Show Events Center. For more information on the Incubus universe, click here for the band’s website.
