Shot by Adam CK Vollick, the films can be viewed on Neil Young’s YouTube channel as well as the video site’s spotlight section.

Featuring stripped down, bare-bones visuals, the videos feature Young performing tracks from his latest album, Le Noise, released this week. Helmed by Daniel Lanois and recorded at the producer’s home in Silverlake, Calif., and contains no bands or overdubs.

Or, as Lanois described it, Le Noise is just “a man on a stool and me doing a nice job on the recording.”

Le Noise has also been getting plenty of kudos from critics. The Chicago Tribune called it “one of Young’s best albums,” while Rolling Stone gave it four stars, describing the effort as “an extreme simplicity: the sound of a man who won’t give up.”

Having completed a short Gulf Coast tour where he teamed with Tyson Foods to help alleviate hunger in communities affected by the BP Oil Spill, Young’s next appearance will be Oct. 2 at Milwaukee’s Miller Park followed by his annual in Mountain View, Calif., at the Shoreline Amphitheatre Oct. 23-24.

Along with the individual films, there are is also a clip featuring a personal introduction by Young as well as behind-the-scenes footage. To see all eight Le Noise films, click here for Neil Young’s YouTube channel.
