‘Tis the Season Of The Mule
Gov’t Mule’s next stop is a gig at the University Of Iowa in Iowa City Oct. 1. Three weeks later the band hooks up with Widespread Panic for two shows – Oct. 23 in Las Vegas at The Joint @ Hard Rock Hotel / Casino and Oct. 24 in Valley Center, Calif., at the Open Sky Theater @ Harrah’s Rincon Casino Resort.
The bulk of today’s new date additions begins with Oct. 28 in Portland, Ore., at McMenamin’s Crystal Ballroom; Oct. 29 in Reno at Knitting Factory Concert House; Oct. 30 in Oakland at Fox Theatre; Nov. 2 in Anaheim at House Of Blues; Nov. 3 in Tempe at The Marquee and Nov. 4 in Tucson at Rialto Theatre.
The Oct. 30 show in Oakland serves as Gov’t Mule’s Halloween gig. Past Halloween shows have featured the band doing complete sets of songs by other groups such as Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones. So far, there hasn’t been any word as to what the band is cooking up for this year’s spooky extravaganza.
Previously announced dates include Nov. 5 in Los Angeles at The Music Box and the band’s traditional New York City shows rocking in the new year – Dec. 30-31 at Beacon Theatre.
Also included in that tradition is the band playing multiple sets on New Year’s Eve with this year’s blowout featuring three sets as well as a few surprises.
However, we can tell you that Mulennium, the three-disc set featuring Gov’t Mule’s complete New Year’s Eve 1999-2000 show has been released, featuring the band’s original trio of Warren Haynes, Allen Woody and Matt Abts who were joined by bluesman Little Milton and Audley Freed from The Black Crowes.
