Fire Strikes Tesla Recording Studio

A recording studio belonging to Tesla burned early Thursday morning, destroying many of the band’s instruments and memorabilia.

The three-alarm fire broke out in a neighboring two-story apartment building, according to Sacramento television station KCRA. Although firefighters arrived within minutes, the flames eventually jumped to the adjacent two-story structure housing the studio on its top floor.

Evidently firefighters had a tough time fighting the blaze. As with most studios, the walls and ceiling of Tesla’s recording HQ contain thicker-than-usual walls and ceiling, making it hard for firefighters to access the building’s attic. KCRA reports more than 86 firefighters spent more than an hour bringing the fires in both buildings under control.

No members of Tesla were in the studio during the incident but the Red Cross is helping five residents displaced by the fires. Although no one was injured in the blaze, KCRA reports there were two cat fatalities.
