R&B’s Mario Arrested

Baltimore police arrested R&B singer Mario Oct. 1 for allegedly attacking his mother during a disturbance at their shared apartment.

The Baltimore Sun reports the singer, whose real name is Mario Dewar Bennett, is facing one count of second-degree assault after Shawntia Hardaway called the police at about 1 a.m.

A police report said Hardaway was crying and appeared upset when officers arrived. She told police her son was “throwing and damaging property” and that Bennett pushed her, causing her minor pain. Inside the apartment, police discovered a damaged china cabinet, a shattered mirror and a large hole in a closet door.

Hardaway also claimed that Bennett had shoved her into a wall during an argument Sept. 27 and she feared for her life, according to the Sun.

The performer was booked then released on $50,000 bail.
