Festivals Vie For Awards

The European Festival Awards have extended their entry deadline until Oct. 8 because its organisers have been overwhelmed by the response.

The winners are chosen by a combination of industry juries and a public vote, which will now start Oct. 13.

Nominations have already come from 28 countries and the number of events taking part is 20 percent above last year’s total.

Following its successful debut at Eurosonic-Noorderslag in January, Festival Awards Europe will return to Groningen, The Netherlands, in 2011 and be held in a larger venue.

It’s moving from the city’s Grand Theatre to the Stadsschouwburg, which is the sister building to De Oosterpoort, where the annual Eurosonic conference is held.
