The New York-based hardcore punk band is reuniting to play a few gigs this winter for the first time since 1990.

The original 1988-1990 lineup is getting back together except this time around Ted Leo (of Ted Leo And The Pharmacists fame) will be on guitar, leaving the vocals solely up to Daryl Kahan. The lineup also features Janis Chakars on guitar, Joseph Martin on bass and Patrick Winter on drums.

Back in May Citizens Arrest teased fans on its Facebook page by hinting that the group hoped “to have some ‘news’ for you very soon.” The band kept fans hanging until late July when it posted that Citizens Arrest was holding its first rehearsal, followed by a photo captioned “first reunion practice.”

Last week the band finally revealed the three twentieth anniversary reunion shows that had been booked with a poster added to its Facebook page.

On Dec. 17 Citizens Arrest is playing The Knitting Factory in New York followed by two Dec. 18 performances at Kung Fu Necktie in Philadelphia. Kung Fu Necktie will host an all ages show at 2 p.m. and a 21+ gig at 7 p.m.

Tickets are on sale now.

Citizens Arrest is already making plans for next year, having made the lineup for Maryland Deathfest at Sonar Baltimore May 27-29, 2011.
