The Parliament’s committee in charge of cultural matters will summon top executives from the country’s three leading talent agencies that manage teenage girl groups.

Politicians have pointed out that some of the girls in these groups are only 13 or 14 years old, which means that they could be the victims of abuse if it is found that they have been compelled to “wear revealing clothes and sing songs with suggestive dance moves and lyrics,” according to one lawmaker quoted by Japan’s Jiji Press.

One such group that debuted in August, named GP Basic, features six girls whose average age is 15.

The three entertainment agencies have already received a warning on the matter from the Korea Communications Commission, a media watchdog organization.
