Officials in Summerside have changed their tune regarding reports that the city paid Live Nation the fee to locate an artist for an outdoor concert.

The chairs of the city’s community services department and even Summerside Mayor Basil Stewart previously told the local Journal Pioneer the city was working in coordination with Live Nation. They said the promotion juggernaut received a “finders fee” to bring a major act to the city but was not expected to promote the concert.

However, Summerside chief administrative officer Terry Murphy recently told Pollstar the city has “no contract with Live Nation nor did we have any discussions with them last year on a major outdoor concert.”

Live Nation Canada Chairman Riley O’Connor has said so much as well.

The city is reportedly still finalizing an arrangement with a mystery promoter.
