Wigmore, Walker Shine At NZ Awards

Gin Wigmore and Stan Walker – two New Zealand artists based in Australia – each won four Tuis at the New Zealand Music Awards.
Wigmore took album of the year, breakthrough artist, best pop album, and highest-selling NZ album.

Six-time nominee Wigmore told ONE News winning album of the year was the “biggest honour of her life, to date.”

“Australian Idol” 2009 winner Walker bundled home Tuis for highest selling NZ single, NZ on air airplay record of the year, people’s choice and international achievement.

Wellington band The Phoenix Foundation, which earlier won three technical awards for its Buffalo album, won best group.

Kids of 88 won single of the year while Tim Van Dammen got best music video for his work on “Just A Little Bit.”

Hip-hopper Dane Rumble was named best male solo artist, while Anika Moa took best female solo artist. Shihad received a Legacy award and was inducted into the NZ Music Hall of Fame for the group’s influence on NZ music.
