New Superhero: X Japan Man

X Japan leader Yoshiki will be teaming up with Marvel Comics guru Stan Lee to create a comic book and motion comic series about a superhero musician. The as yet untitled character will make his debut in 2011.

The new superhero will be modeled on Yoshiki and his gothic fashion sense, not to mention his fascination with dragons. In classic superhero mode, he will also be a vigilante whose super powers are triggered when certain musical notes are played.

Yoshiki will compose new music based on Lee’s concept that will be used in the motion comic.

The project will be undertaken by Lee’s POW! (Purveyors of Wonder) Entertainment. In a statement, Yoshiki, who lives in Los Angeles, said he has “admired Stan Lee and his creations my entire life. Just meeting him was so great, and now working with him is the most fun and creative experiences I have ever had. To watch his mind at work is amazing and inspiring.”

In other X Japan news, Yoshiki announced that the group will tour Europe in the spring. Reportedly concerts in France and Germany have already been finalized with shows in England in the works. The band just completed a successful debut tour of North America. X Japan made its Japan debut in 1989.
