On Oct. 14 Prince announced the first details of the tour at New York’s Apollo Theater, explaining that the event was “best described as what we’ve all been waiting for.”

The Purple One said he would “serve as master of ceremonies for multiple nights of entertainment that will feature some of the best artists this country has to offer.” The shows will feature performances from Maceo Parker, Janelle Monae, Mint Condition, Esperanza Spalding, Lalah Hathaway, Sheila E., Cassandra Wilson and Graham Central Station. Prince will also perform with his band, the New Power Generation.

The singer advised fans to arrive at the shows early.

“You need to come often because every time we play there’s always something new. No concert is ever the same. I got a lot of hits. Bring friends, bring your children and bring foot spray ‘cause it’s gon’ be funky.”
