Detroit Burbs Sound Off

Residents in two Detroit suburbs are calling for local bars and clubs to keep the noise to a quiet roar with discussions of amendments to current noise ordinances.

Officials in Ferndale and Royal Oak are considering setting new maximum sound levels in the communities and looking into fines or even jail time for multiple offenders.

Ferndale may hire a sound expert to examine current levels and Royal Oak officials reportedly took an average of noise policies in other cities and proposed setting levels based on time of day and use of the property.
