Three Decades And Still Rockin’
Chances are the first time you heard Circle Jerks, TSOL or Suicidal Tendencies it was also the first time you heard a Frontier Records release. Founded in 1980 by Lisa Fancher, Frontier was on the cusp of the Los Angeles punk scene. From garage to club to studio, many of L.A.’s hard-core punk bands first landed on fans’ turntables via Frontier Records.
While Frontier’s very first release was the self-titled EP by The FlyBoys, the label didn’t strike indie gold until it released the Circle Jerks’ Group Sex. While the label has branched out during the past three decades, the label, headed up by owner/operator Fancher, is just as loud, edgy and challenging today as it was 30 years ago.
Frontier began making some serious noise about its 30th year in the biz just a few months ago when it announced its 100th release, Dangerhouse’s YES L.A. reissue.
But we digress. We promised you a party and a party you shall have.
The Frontier Records 30th Anniversary Party takes over the EchoPlex in Los Angeles this Sunday Nov. 7. Hosted by the Circle Jerks’ Keith Morris, the lineup includes The Adolescents, TSOL, Middle Class, The Avengers, Rikk Agnew, Deadbeats, The FlyBoys, Stains and The Pontiac Brothers.
The party starts at 4 p.m. and advance tickets are only $15. For more information, click here for the EchoPlex website and here for Frontier Records’ digital HQ.
