Powderfinger Charity Flight Raises $150k

As part of its 21-city farewell “Sunsets” tour, Australian band Powderfinger played a seven-song set on a flight between Sydney and the Gold Coast on tour sponsor Jetstar airlines.

The 140 fans had to bid for the $249 tickets on eBay, with some paying up to $9,770. Three rows of seats were removed to make up the stage. Just more than $150,000 was raised for two charities aiding disadvantaged children.

The charity flight took a month to organize, according to Jetstar chief commercial officer David Koczkar.
