Aretha Postpones Six Months Of Dates

Aretha Franklin has canceled all scheduled tour dates through May.

“Her doctors have required her” to cancel the shows, along with all personal appearances, publicist Tracey Jordan told The Associated Press.

The shows would have included a Nov. 20 gig at The MGM Grand at Foxwoods in Mashantucket, Conn., in addition to a Dec. 9 Christmas concert at Detroit’s Fox Theatre. Theater operator Olympia Entertainment told the AP the performance was canceled “due to medical reasons.” Two shows at Radio City Music Hall in New York, Feb 11-12, have also been called off.

Last week the 68-year-old singer postponed two shows because of health reasons.

On Tuesday Jordan confirmed that Franklin had been released from a Detroit hospital over the weekend.

At that point Jordan said the Queen of Soul was “resting comfortably at home, but is anxious to get back on the road to perform for her countless fans around the world.”

In August Franklin was forced to call off two free concerts in New York after breaking ribs in a fall.
