Ben & Jerry’s Buzzing About Mike Gordon

Phish bassist Mike Gordon is putting on a sweet warm up gig before Sunday’s sold out solo performance by participating in one of Ben & Jerry’s “secret shows.”

The free event is part of the famed ice cream company’s Bonnaroo Buzz series, which features Bonnaroo bands playing acoustic shows at scoop shops in addition to promoting the festival’s namesake new ice cream flavor.

Gordon’s set takes place Nov. 7 at 1 p.m. outside the Ben & Jerry’s on the corner of Haight and Ashbury in San Francisco. The shop is located at 1480 Haight Street.

Along with the show, attendees can enjoy free samples of “Bonnaroo Buzz” and Phish’s namesake ice cream, “Phish Food” (while supplies last), according to Bonnaroo.com.
Bonnaroo Buzz is described as “light coffee and malt ice creams with whiskey caramel swirls and English toffee pieces.” Phish Food is a mixture of “chocolate ice cream with gooey marshmallow, caramel swirls and fudge fish.”

The “secret show” series has previously featured sets from Here We Go Magic, Punch Brothers, Rogue Wave and Tokyo Police Club.

Gordon is touring in support of his third solo album. Moss was released Oct. 19 on Rounder.

His November tour kicks off Saturday at Troubadour in West Hollywood, Calif., followed by Sunday’s sold out show at The Independent in San Francisco.

Dates are on the books through at Nov. 27 gig at Paradise Rock Club in Boston. The bassist is also set to hit up Seattle (Nov. 10), Salt Lake City (Nov. 12), Minneapolis (Nov. 16), Chicago (Nov. 18) and Cleveland (Nov. 22).
