Faye Wong Dazzles

Faye Wong performed the first of a series of widely anticipated comeback concerts at Wukesong Arena in Beijing, the city of her birth, Oct. 29-31.

The show was divided into five parts, four of which represented the four seasons and the last titled “Rebirth,” all with corresponding stage sets and a total of seven costume changes, according to The China Daily.

The stage production, which included the use of huge 3D screens and reportedly cost $4 million, was overseen by noted Hong Kong film director Wong Kar-wai, who worked with Faye Wong in his 1994 movie “Chungking Express.”

The Women of China website report that scalpers had a field day, easily outselling any other artist who has ever played Beijing, including perennial favorite Jacky Cheung.
