Daughtry Ticket Scammer Busted

An Anchorage, Alaska, man who reportedly ended up with a phony Daughtry ticket purchased through Craigslist tracked down the alleged con artist, which led to an arrest.

Police say the man paid $50 for the ticket to Daughtry’s concert at the city’s Sullivan Arena, only to find out it was fake. The man then went back on Craigslist seeking others who had been caught in same scheme.

Two other men came forward and the three began scouring Craigslist to find other postings with the same phone number they had each called for the fake concert tickets.

The alleged scam artist, a woman, was located through a listing for snowboard bindings, police said. All three men contacted her as potential buyers for the bindings and arranged to meet her at a store parking lot.

At the meeting, the men reportedly confirmed the 21-year-old woman had sold them the fake tickets. They wrote down her license number as she drove off, then called police.

The alleged scam artist was later arrested and charged with three counts of forgery and three counts of theft by deception. The woman also has an outstanding warrant for $10,000, according to police.
