Touring in support of his new album, Born Free, Kid Rock launches the tour by throwing himself a 40th birthday party Jan. 15 at Detroit’s fabulous indoor football stadium, Ford Field, home of the Detroit Lions. Yes, that’s right. The Kid hits 40 in January. Where does the time go?

Backed, as always, by the Twisted Brown Trucker Band, Rock’s next stop is a tad smaller – the Dow Events Center in Saginaw, Mich., Jan. 21. Other stops include Toledo at Huntington Center Jan. 26; Dayton at Nutter Center Jan. 29; Louisville at KFC Yum! Center Feb. 11 and Nashville at Bridgestone Arena Feb. 18. But that’s just a very small taste of the routing. To appreciate the logistical as well as artistic genius of the routing, you need to eyeball the entire itinerary.

Special guest Jamey Johnson appears on all dates.

If you can’t get enough of The Kid and you dread the thought of waiting until January or later to see your hero in action, the documentary “Kid Rock: Born Free” is airing on MTV, VH1 and CMT.

Tickets for the Detroit show go on sale Nov. 26 and the general onsales for the rest of the announced dates begin Dec. 3 or 4 depending on market. For more information, click here for Kid Rock’s website.
