Jeff Beck’s ‘Rock And Roll Party’

Beck’s “Rock And Roll Party To Honor Les Paul,” recorded at New York’s Iridium Jazz Club where Paul played every Monday for the last 14 years of his life, will be released as a DVD and CD Feb. 22. Backing Beck as he performed Les Paul & Mary Ford classics like “How High The Moon” and “Mockin’ Bird Hill” was The Imelda May Band which will also perform with the guitar slinger on his upcoming tour.

Dubbed the “Rock And Roll Party,” the tour begins at Washington’s 9:30 Club March 24, plays Philadelphia’s Keswick Theatre March 25, hits Boston’s Wang Centre March 26 and lands at New York’s Beacon Theatre March 28.

Other stops include Ann Arbor’s Michigan Theatre March 31; Chicago’s Cadillac Palace Theatre April 1 and San Francisco at The Fillmore April 9. A Los Angeles date is listed for April 8, venue TBA.

While you’re waiting for Beck to come to your town, PBS will air “Jeff Beck Honors Les Paul,” depicting the first night of his “Celebration To Honor Les Paul,” series of shows. This particular slice of Beck honoring the guitar hero was recorded on June 9, 2010, which would have been Paul’s 95th birthday and includes guest appearances by Trombone Shorty, Gary U.S. Bonds and Brian Setzer. The special premieres Nov. 27 and runs through December.
