Wilson Targets Canada For June

Songwriter extraordinaire Brian Wilson brings his Gershwin interpretations to Canada beginning June 15 in Ontario.

Touring in support of his Brian Wilson Re-imagines Gershwin album, the game plan calls for Wilson to perform his latest release in its entirety on every stop. Of course, he’ll also pull out a few classics from his solo career as well as a number of ditties from his Beach Boys days because, after all, he’s Brian Wilson.

Wilson’s take Gershwin brothers George and Ira includes an a cappella version of “Rhapsody In Blue,” selections from the opera “Porgy & Bess” and songs like “I’ve Got Rhythm” and “They Can’t Take That Away From Me.”

The Canadian tour begins in Kitchener, Ont., at The Centre In The Square June 15. Other stops include Montreal at Place Des Arts June 17; Toronto At Massey Hall June 18; Winnipeg at Pantages Playhouse Theatre June 22 and Calgary at Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium June 25. Last show on the routing is at Vancouver’s Queen Elizabeth Theatre June 28.

Lessee… Wilson announced his Sept. 2011 U.K. tour last week and this week he trumpets a Canadian leg? Could a U.S. tour announcement be in the works?
