DMX Arrested (Again)

By now you gotta figure DMX is on a first-name basis with law enforcement officials and jail guards in and around Phoenix, Ariz. The rapper was arrested yet again Nov. 18, apparently for violating probation.

DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was arrested on a felony charge of violating probation, reports MTV News. The arrest is the latest legal problem for the artist whose brushes with the law include arrests for drug possession, animal cruelty and assault.

One time, while a “resident” at “Tent City,” the outdoor jail instituted by Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, the famous law enforcement official told DMX that he had an “attitude problem.”

This time around, it looks as if DMX failed to report to his probation officer.

“He just didn’t check in with his probation officer, and it’s just a matter of him not following the rules,” DMX’s manager Nakia Walker told MTV News, adding that she hadn’t spoken to the artist.

Walker told MTV News that online reports that DMX was arrested for failing to submit to a drug test, cocaine possession and using Oxycontin with a prescription were “old charges.”

Artist managers who have had to deal with their clients personal issues as well as personality quirks and other eccentricities can probably identify with this next Walker quote reminding us that performers sometimes do what they do regardless of the consequences.

“This is a difficult time in his life,” Walker told MTV News. “He’s going through some things. … Sh– happens. I can’t tell you why he makes the decisions to do the things that he does. Other than that, there’s no real excuse for it. When you don’t follow the rules, there’s consequences.”
