KFC Yum! Paperless Delays

What might sound like a nightmare to any parent of a tween stricken by Bieber fever turned out to be no biggie recently at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Ky.

The venue, which opened last month and is operated by the Kentucky State Fair Board, was debuting Ticketmaster’s paperless ticketing for the Nov. 10 Justin Bieber show.

But when a computer glitch arose, causing delays for nearly 1,000 fans to enter the building, some parents began totally freaking out.
“I paid $400 and drove five hours and my daughter’s not even gonna see this,” one mother frantically told the local WHAS news.
“It’s ridiculous is what it is,” another reportedly chimed in.

The problem apparently involved a coding issue on TM’s side. When staff at the venue tried to swipe the fans’ credit cards on portable scanners, they received invalid messages.

Venue GM Ted Nicholson told Pollstar TM was contacted and the problem was solved within half an hour.
“It wasn’t a big issue,” he said. “It was like a delay you would have at LAX.”

Nicholson said everyone was in the house before Bieber and opening act Jasmine V took the stage and, in the end, the venue received few complaints.

While KFC Yum! Center’s first run at paperless ticketing got off to a bumpy start. Nicholson said other fair board-operated venues in the area have never had any problems with the technology.
