Aussie Music Directory Finds New Owner

Following his retirement after 40-years in the music biz, U.S.-born Phil Tripp has sold the “Australasian Music Industry Directory” to publisher Street Press Australia.

The new owner publishes music titles including Drum Media and In Press, which are given away at live music venues and record stores.

Tripp says the directory, which he started 22 years ago while sitting bored in hospital after a heart attack, had five bidders.

“It was our long relationship with [SPA’s] Craig and Leigh Treweek who we watched build the national network of music press that clinched the deal,” Tripp says.

The deal also includes the Tripp-operated websites immedia.com.au, musicbusiness.com.au, musicdirectory.net.au and the music industry portal TheMusic.com.au.
