Cake was on Conan last night, serving up a taste or two of the band’s first studio album since 2004. Showroom Of Compassion, recorded at Cake’s solar-powered recording studio in Sacramento, lands in stores January 11.

The band will offer the new effort in several formats ranging from vinyl to CD to digital downloads. Plus, fans pre-ordering the album through Cake’s own web store will also receive an instant MP3 download of “Sick Of You,” which is already zooming up the alternative radio charts, just click here for details.

Cake is also giving fans several chances to check the band out this month by playing radio station Christmas shows, such as the at NYC’s Irving Plaza Dec. 7; The END’s at the WaMu Arena in Seattle Dec. 8 and at the Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal CityWalk Dec. 11.

And don’t forget New Year’s Eve when the band rocks in 2011 at the Austin Music Hall.

The newly announced dates that landed on our loading dock today begin Jan. 14 in Boca Raton Fla., at the Sunset Cove Amphitheater. Other stops include three nights in Atlanta at Center Stage Jan. 17-19; one night in Nashville at the Ryman Auditorium Jan. 20; Memphis at Minglewood Hall Jan. 21; Birmingham, Ala., at the WorkPlay Theatre Jan. 22 and four big evenings at The Fillmore in San Francisco Feb. 14-17.
