Aussie Clubs Claim Election Victory

The Melbourne-based Nightclub Owners Forum (NOF) is claiming victory after a massive electoral backlash saw the Victorian state government swept out of power at the Nov. 27 elections.

NOF had campaigned against the government saying that its increased license fees, bureaucratic red tape and tendency to blame club operators for alcohol violence in the city’s entertainment strip was “a destructive period for the industry,” according to NOF convener Peter Iwaniuk.
