Franklin Recovering From Surgery
Aretha Franklin is recovering from a Dec. 2 “highly successful” surgery. It is not known what procedure was performed on Franklin, who canceled all concert dates and personal appearances through May on the orders of her doctors.
“The surgery was highly successful,” the 68-year-old diva said in a statement. “God is still in control. I had superb doctors and nurses whom were blessed by all the prayers of the city and the country. God bless you for all your prayers.”
A community prayer vigil was held in Detroit for Franklin a day before the procedure. City Councilwoman JoAnn Watson and others gathered downtown Dec. 1 to pray for Franklin who wasn’t at the vigil but in a statement thanked the city Council, saying “all prayers are good.”
Franklin broke two ribs when she fell at her home in August. She was forced to cancel two New York concerts while recovering.
