Prince Adds, Cancels
Madison Square Garden is the recipient of a third show – Jan. 18. Meanwhile, the Izod Center in East Rutherford loses one of its three Prince appearances – Dec. 14 – blaming that old devil known as “scheduling issues.”
The Izod Center still has the Purple One for two shows – Dec. 15 and 17.
Ticket holders for the nixed Dec. 14 show have a number of options. According to the Izod Center’s website, ticket holders will receive an e-mail giving them new seat locations for the Dec. 15 show. If that doesn’t work for them, they can obtain refunds at points of purchase.
Dec. 14 ticket holders can also purchase tickets to the newly announced Jan. 18 MSG date through a pre-sale scheduled to begin Dec. 8 at 10 a.m. and running through 10 p.m. EST. The public onsale for Jan. 18 begins Dec. 10 at noon EST.
In October Prince held a press conference at New York City’s Apollo Theatre to announce his “Welcome 2 America” tour, saying he would perform with his New Power Generation backing band as well as serve as master of ceremonies for the gigs also featuring performances by R&B and jazz artists such as Janelle Monae, Maceo Parker, Sheila E., Cassandra Wilson, Mint Condition and Graham Central Station.
