The worst-band-ever archives run deep at YouTube. Even after you discount the kids playing in their first bands, there are still plenty of adults doing their best to entertain while at the same time discovering how difficult it can be to play in the same key at the same time. Or, we suspect, even play the same song.

We don’t mean to disrespect the, ahem, musicians featured in the video clips below. Regardless of talent, it takes a lot of chutzpah to play and sing your heart out in front of an audience. There’s a lot of bravery in these clips. For that alone, we salute them.

But that doesn’t mean we have to praise them. Below are five videos, all among the returns we received today when searching for “worst band ever” on YouTube.

Band No. 1: There’s a reason why God created stage monitors. So wannabe rock stars know if they sound as bad as this guy.

Band No. 2: At first we thought this might be a Shaggs tribute band. No such luck.

Band No. 3: This one is described on YouTube as “worst band ever & drunk guitarist fall” but we’re more intrigued as to why the other guitarist is foaming at the mouth.

Band No. 4: There’s a lot to be said for talent. But not here.

Band No. 5: Presenting the pièce de résistance of today’s video journey. Proving that it takes a lot of effort to be a really, really bad band, this group’s rendition of Pink Floyd’s “Comfortably Numb” is one of the most unique covers you’ll hear and see anywhere on the web. This hurts more than “just a little pin prick.”
