On The Threshold Of A Tour

Pioneer prog band The Moody Blues lays out its 2011 tour plans with some dates going on sale as early as this weekend.

The Moody Blues occupy one of those unique niches in rock, trailblazing its own path by being one of the first bands to record with a symphony orchestra as well as exploring what was beyond the music industry’s three-minute record standard. It’s a band that needs no introduction, for simply saying “Moody Blues” instantly conjures up lush melodies, melodic guitars and even a poem or two.

Right now the first date on the band’s 2011 schedule is April 27 in New Orleans at the Mahalia Jackson Performing Arts Center. Other April stops include an Austin City Limits gig April 28, an appearance at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in Woodlands, Texas, near Houston April 29 and Thackerville, Okla., at the Winstar Casino April 30.

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg for the band has dates on the books clear through mid-June, including a lot of shows in the western states, like Phoenix at the Comerica Theatre May 13; Las Vegas at The Joint @ The Hard Rock Hotel / Casino May 13; Los Angeles at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live May 15; Santa Barbara at the Granada Theatre May 17; Salt Lake City at the Red Butte Garden May 29 and Boise at the Idaho Botanical Gardens May 31.
