Broken Social Scene’s Winter Excursion

Although it does have a few dates in the snow belt, Canadian music collective Broken Social Scene next outing includes several shows in Florida and Texas. But then, can you blame them?

After all, who wouldn’t want to spend a few days in a sunbelt state during February?

But before members can have fun in the sun, Broken Social Scene has a few January dates where the weather is more typical of what you expect from winter, including snow, wind chills and the dreaded medical malady known as freezyerazzof syndrome.

For instance, BSS plays London, Ont., at The Music Hall Jan. 16, New York City’s Terminal 5 Jan. 18 and appears at the in Edmonton, Alb., Jan. 29.

February brings dates in sunnier locales. After a Feb. 10 gig in Atlanta, Ga., at The Buckhead Theatre, the group heads to Florida for three dates – Feb. 11 in Tampa at The Ritz Ybor, Feb. 12 in Fort Lauderdale at Revolution and Feb. 13 in Orlando at Firestone Live.

New Orleans is next on the list, with Broken Social Scene playing Tipitina’s Uptown Feb. 15 followed by three shows in Texas – Houston at Warehouse Live Feb. 17; Austin at la Zona Rosa Feb. 18 and Dallas at House Of Blues Feb. 19. Last stop on the schedule is Tulsa at Cain’s Ballroom Feb. 20.
