Paradise Seeks Expansion

Officials with the Paradise Rock Club and Lounge in Boston have requested city approval to increase the venue’s capacity from 916 to 999 following a major remodel of the club.

The renovations at the Live Nation-booked facility include a larger main club space and a smaller lounge, moving the stage 15 feet to the left to get away from a support pole that obstructed concertgoers’ view, updated sound equipment, improved green room amenities and overall touch-ups, according to the Boston Globe.

Paradise co-owner Declan Mehigan said the added capacity would reflect the building’s new configuration.

“We’re hoping to increase our capacity, but it’s a process. It’s not a slam dunk and there’s no guarantee,” Declan told the paper. “We’ll take whatever the city will give us.”

The city council was reportedly scheduled to discuss the request mid-December, the paper said.
