Yo Gotti Facing Riot Charge

Memphis rapper Yo Gotti is facing a felony charge of aggravated riot after turning himself in to police for his involvement in a shooting outside a nightclub Thanksgiving weekend.

Authorities said Gotti (real name Mario Mims) got into an argument with rapper Lance “OG Boo Dirty” Taylor outside the Level II club in the early hours of Nov. 29.

The argument reportedly turned physical as eight others joined in and “unidentified persons from within the brawl started firing shots,” according to police reports obtained by the Commercial Appeal.

Several men were shot including an off-duty security guard although none sustained life-threatening injuries.

An attorney for Yo Gotti told the paper he is confident his client’s name will be cleared.

“He is not an advocate of violence by any means,” Murray Wells said. “At the end of the day, we’re confident his name is going to be cleared.”

If convicted, Gotti and nine other men could face felony charges of one to six years in prison. Taylor has also been charged with inciting to riot, the Appeal said.
