Janet Jackson Announces First Date Of 2011 Tour

Janet Jackson has announced the first city and date for her 2011 tour. The trek will hit up 35 cities around the globe, marking her largest ever world tour.

Jackson will be sharing the love with fans on Valentine’s Day when she performs Feb. 14 at HKCEC Hall in Hong Kong.

Tickets are on sale now.

The tour celebrates the release of her 2009 greatest hit compilation Number Ones. In a video on her website Jackson explained that the tour will feature tunes exclusively from the collection.

The singer has invited fans to help choose the 35 cities on the tour from a list of over 50 choices on her site. Fans can also submit another city for consideration.

Possible tour stops could include Amsterdam, Netherlands; Atlantic City, New Jersey; Chicago; Frankfurt, Germany; London; Los Angeles; Montreal, Quebec; Heming, Denmark; Lucerne, Switzerland; Vienna, Austria; Dubai, United Arab Emirates; and Las Vegas.

Jackson has promised to give away an autographed copy of Number Ones in addition to an autographed copy of her new book to the first 35 fans to vote for the cities that are chosen.

She plans to dedicate one of her No.1 songs to each of the 35 cities she performs. Jackson said she will also recognize 20 young people whose lives and work “have enriched their communities in a major way.” Fans can submit individuals to be recognized through Jackson’s website.

Jackson’s upcoming self-help book – “True You: A Journey to Finding and Loving Yourself” – is set for release Feb. 8.

Her last major tour took place in 2008.
