Freedom Hill Season Uncertain

Freedom Hill Amphitheatre in Sterling Heights, Mich., may or may not be hosting concerts next year, depending on the expediency of the court system.

Freedom Hill’s owner, Hillside Productions, has been in court one way or another for a decade, battling city and county entities.

It recently lost a decision to Macomb County over $22,000 in lost ticket sales but has appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court, according to the Macomb Daily.

Meanwhile, sheds traditionally begin planning their schedules in February.

“We’ve put everything on hold pending a final resolution with the county,” Hillside spokesman Hank Riberas told the paper. “And by everything, we mean everything, including graduations and concerts.”

He said there is an “outside chance” all legal matters could be settled in time to save the concert season at the 7,000-capacity venue.

The books were left empty all 2010 because of the various ongoing legal issues.
