Eric Church, The Band Perry Among ACM Newcomer Noms

Although the Academy Of Country Music won’t announce a complete list of nominees for its annual award show until next month, the organization has revealed who’s up for newcomer honors.

Nominated for ACM’s top new solo vocalist award are Eric Church, Easton Corbin and Randy Houser while The Band Perry, the JaneDear girls and Steel Magnolia are up for Top New Vocal Duo Or Group.

The nominees were announced today by the Academy Of Country Music and country music cable channel Great American Country.

Those of you keeping score at home will need to modify your ACM Awards notes. The Academy has merged two newcomer categories – Top New Vocal Duo and Top New Vocal Group – into Top New Vocal Duo Or Group. But don’t worry. Counselors are standing by to treat the easily confused.

For the third year, fans can vote in the newcomer categories via VoteACM.com and GACtv.com/ACM. Voting begins Jan. 27.

Of course, a major music award show means a major network. CBS will do the honors, airing the Dick Clark-produced 46th Annual Academy Of Country Music Awards live (on the East Coast) from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas April 3.
