Sugar Bowl Ticket Gaffe

Fans that scored sweet deals on tickets through secondary outlets to the upcoming Allstate Sugar Bowl could end up with a bitter taste in their mouths.

Ticketmaster and officials for University of Arkansas athletics recently released statements announcing TM inadvertently sent out duplicate tickets for hundreds of seats to the Arkansas vs. Ohio State game Jan 4.

While the university said fans that purchased tickets to the college bowl game were notified and asked to destroy the dupes, they also noted that “some of the affected purchasers may negotiate the duplicate tickets instead of destroying them.”

Even worse, since the duplicates are scannable paper tickets, those looking to make a quick buck could sell their seat, show up at the game with the duplicate and get admitted, leaving the purchaser stuck outside the gate.

Fans that purchased tickets through U of A’s Razorbacks ticket office were apparently not affected.

In efforts to quell the problems that are likely occur to from the blunder, TM released a list of the seats for which duplicate tix were issued on the Razorbacks website. Fans purchasing through third parties and unofficial ticket sites were urged to consult the duplicate listing to ensure they hadn’t purchased a duplicate and invalid ticket.
