Bright Eyes Add More Dates

Bright Eyes’ first extensive tour in more than three years just got even brighter with the addition of over a dozen new dates in the U.S. and Europe.

The indie folk band is touring in support of its seventh studio album. The People’s Key is set for release Feb. 15 on Saddle Creek as the follow-up to 2007’s Cassadaga.

The trek will feature a 7-piece band made up of permanent members Conor Oberst, Mike Mogis and Nate Walcott, in addition to four other musicians.

Bright Eyes has confirmed a spot at this year’s edition of South by Southwest with a March 19 performance at Auditorium Shores in Austin, Texas. The SXSW Ground Control Touring Showcase will also feature The Felice Brothers, Middle Brother and Man Man.

Brand new North American dates also include shows at Foellinger Auditorium in Urbana, Ill. (March 16); Riverside Theatre in Milwaukee (April 3); First Avenue in Minneapolis (April 4-5); Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, British Columbia (April 8); and Fox Theater in Oakland, Calif. (April 12).

New European dates include February shows in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Germany and Netherlands.

Pre-sale tickets to select shows go on sale as early as Wednesday, Jan. 12. Tickets go on sale to the general public beginning Friday, Jan. 14.

Cursive will join Bright Eyes on the road March 2-10, excluding the Radio City Music Hall shows. The March 8-9 New York gigs will feature Superchunk and Wild Flag. The Mynabirds will open for Oberst and the gang March 11-17.
