Chris Cornell Opens The ‘Songbook’
One doesn’t usually associate the phrase “solo acoustic” with the man who gave voice to Soundgarden, Temple Of the Dog and Audioslave. But Cornell received raves when he played his first acoustic “Songbook” show in front of a sold-out audience in December 2009 at Los Angeles’ Hotel Café. Now fans in the U.S. and Canada get to experience Cornell’s acoustic side when he embarks on the two-month “Songbook” tour beginning April 1 in Austin, Texas, at the Paramount Theatre.
Playing coast-to-coast, other stops include Atlanta’s Center Stage April 5; Boston’s Berklee Performance Hall April 9; New York’s Town Hall April 12; Washington’s Sixth & I Historic Synagogue April 17; Chicago’s Vic Theatre April 22; Edmonton’s Winspear Centre April 26; San Francisco’s Fillmore May 3; Los Angeles at the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre May 4 and San Diego at Humphrey’s Concerts By The Bay May 6.
A note on Cornell’s tour announcement mentions that this tour is “only the beginning.” While you mull the inner meaning represented in those three words, we suggest you check out his website and MySpace page for more information.
